3 Rivers Race at Caradon Gig Club – Saturday 4th March 2017

3 rivers race caradon

The 3 Rivers race organised by the Caradon Gig Club is one of the larger events in the GigRower calendar. Last year saw around 65 gigs and over 750 rowers taking part.

The Coxes meeting will take place at 9.00 a.m, with the Ladies race starting at 9.30 am. As in other years, the Mens Race will take place after the Ladies, at approximately 11.00 a.m.

This 5 mile river race under the iconic Tamar bridge is one which is always exciting and is particularly important as it not only marks the start of the racing season but it will be the only chance many of the top crews will get to see their rivals before the World Championships in Scilly less than 2 months later.

Below is a short video from a few years ago showing just how exciting this race is…

The Course

This map was drawn a couple of years ago. The route remains roughly the same. The mark turns at the top of the course have switched to a bowside row-round since 2013 but a decision on this for 2017 will be finalised nearer the day.
