Rugby – Saltash v Falmouth – Match Report

The game against Falmouth Eagles was supposed to be played in Saltash but was relocated due to weather conditions. The match started at 2.30 pm at the Keyham all weather pitch for the Devon and Cornwall league top of the table clash.

The first points went to Saltash with a try from the left wing after just 8 minutes gone. Taking Saltash ahead: Saltash 5 – Falmouth 0.

But then came a Penalty kicked by Falmouth. Now at 5-3 to Saltash in the first few minutes, the game is speeding up.

The action then went like this;

Ten minutes into play a  converted try by Falmouth makes it 10-5 to Falmouth.

Then came a high tackle by Saltash. Penalty kicked by Falmouth. 13pts – 5pts to the Eagles!

Then two converted tries for and 27-5 to the good on 37 mins.

The gaps are opening up now for Falmouth.

Try for SH Mulberry gives the home side some hope.

Saltash 10 – Falmouth 27 at half time. Not looking good for Saltash.

2nd half under way.. Saltash have the strong wind behind them this half. Let’s see what happens.

But just 1 minute into the second half and Falmouth gets a try, now it’s Falmouth 32 – Saltash 10.

Why are you punishing us Falmouth?

Then came a glimmer of hope for Saltash with a try from flanker Phil Eatwell making it Saltash 15, Falmouth 32.

Then another Ashes try. No. 5 Tom Rixon under the posts.Making it  32- 22 to Falmouth..

At full time the Falmouth Eagles Win with 32pts to Saltash at 22pts

It was much closer in the 2nd half than the first. Thought for a moment Saltash were on their way back!
