Every year Saltash Town Council select people from the community who have done something special over the last year.
There are two recipients this year however along with the two youth awards.
The Rotary Club of Saltash, who in conjunction with Saltash Town Council, present the award, decided that due to the high standard of nominees that they would introduce an Environmental and Community Citizen of the Year as well as the Citizen of the Year award.
The names were announced at the Mayor’s Civic Church Service on the 5th March this year and they are:
Peter Clements as Saltash Citizen of the Year
Jon Foster as Environmental and Community Citizen of the Year.
The Young Citizens of the Year were named as brother and sister, Mia and Jack Rhodes.
Both Mia and her brother Jack raised a lot of money for Cancer research and both attend Brunel Academy in Saltash.
The Brunel Academy school has commented saying;
We are so proud to announce two citizens of the year! Lovely to see our children achieving outside of school.
The trophies for all of the recipients will be presented, as always, at the May Fair on the 29th April, 2017.
We hope to bring you more on this story as we find out more from the winners!
