Last night the police were involved in a dramatic car chase in Saltash. Only ending when the police used a ‘stinger strip’ device across the road to bring the stolen car to a halt!

The car was finally brought to a stop on the A388 near Carkeel roundabout.

Sgt Olly Taylor revealed a few details about the incident via Twitter.

“Stolen vehicle. I provided pursuit TA (tactical advice) for sighted, stung all four tires and two in custody top work by @RoadPolAlliance ARV’s & local units.”

The road from Saltash to Callington was closed off for a while the police carried out their operation.

Sgt Harry Tangye took to Twitter to praise his colleagues on a job well done, and revealed the chase was ended with no injuries or damage – other than to the car’s four tyres – being caused.

“Go Olly and team! Always good when a plan comes together. #NoDamage #NoInjuries.” said Sgt Tangye.

A stinger device is a spiked strip used to impede or stop the movement of vehicles by puncturing their tyres in this case all 4 tyres got blown out!
